Photographic Safaris
A dedicated photographic safari to any destination in Africa should entail following light and subject to optimize the best result for your photography. We feel that it does not really matter what you are photographing, as long as you are photographing it well. There is often a camaraderie amongst fellow photographers, artists and recorders where everyone gets to share their knowledge and experiences. We like to get up early, often before sunrise to be in the best position possible for sunrise and will often spend all day behind the cameras taking short breaks for meals and a rest. Be assured that your time in the African bush will be optimized so that you return home with epic results.
It is possible to conduct these safaris in a variety of ways. Our most popular is on a private expedition style safari where we are in total control of daily events, location and meals. Sometimes its best to pack a flask and a picnic creating flexibility for the photography. Some locations like in the Luangwa valleys in Zambia, pans of Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe and Mkuzi in
South Africa have hides where we can sit and photograph and observe all day.
Other destinations make use of boats for heronries like in the Okavango,
whilst others are vehicle based and moving with the wildlife like on the
Serengeti plains of Tanzania. Underwater photographers can get advice on
great locations to access some spectacular sites on the African coast like Mafia
Island off Tanzania.

Photography Workshops
Today many people own a digital camera and have an affinity for wildlife. Now you can join a wildlife photography workshop that will teach you about your camera and wildlife behavior together. The workshops are intensive and cover many of the technical attributes that your camera has to offer. The courses offers everything from landscape photography through to getting great portraits, behavioral shots and the more experimental artistic shots like slow motion blur and black & white imagery. There is no doubt that there is always much to learn – in fact, we should never stop. On a daily basis, we see behavior of different animals – some of which are unrecorded. And the best way to share this amazing planet is through digital photography. We feel that by you taking strong and powerful images and sharing them will indeed contribute to awareness across the planet! |
